ASSIST supports victims of domestic abuse where a person has been charged or is likely to be charged with a domestic abuse related crime. Your eligibility is not affected by your gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, immigration status or any disabilities.

The abuse can be historical, recent or ongoing and the perpetrator can be current or ex-partners. The length of the relationship does not matter.

Most ASSIST referrals are received from Police Scotland after attending an incident of domestic abuse and your partner or ex-partner has been charged or is likely to be. ASSIST also accept self-referrals or referrals from other agencies where there is a Domestic Abuse case going through a Court within the ASSIST service delivery area.

Interpreting services can be made available for anyone who does not speak English or who asks for this service because they do not feel fluent or confident in English. We also have access to British Sign Language and other services for those with hearing or visual impairments.  Correspondence is also available in various languages and formats.
